HKS V CAM System adds Variable Valve Timing to engines which have fixed timing as standard. Torque increase can be seen in low and mid rpm ranges and with more efficient combustion, cleaner emissions and fuel economy can also be expected. V CAM brings the latest engine technology to older vehicles. V CAM SYSTEM Pro uses billet camshaft which has strength and durability to cope with high power and RPM. Proven on the RB26DETT engine, HKS V CAM technology makes it's way to the 4G63
Features
  • Variable Intake Valve Timing control for Mitsubishi 4G63 engines built before Mitsubishi MIVEC technology was introduced to the Lancer Evolution IX

  • 2 versions are available. Type A which can be fitted to a standard engine (valve timing adjustment 30° Cam Duration 264°) and Type B which requires HKS pistons to allow for larger valve timing adjustment to extract the maximum from the engine (valve timing adjustment 40° Cam Duration 280°)

  • Both Type A and B utilise billet camshafts. Strong and lightweight design for maximum efficiency during valve timing changes at all rpm ranges.

  • Although the 4G63 has good low/mid rpm torque, further torque can be gained to reduce lap times around lower speed corners or for more comfortable road driving through reducing the amount of necessary gear changes. HKS V CAM System can accommodate the needs of all types of users who have bigger power requirements.

  • Type A can be fitted to standard engine with no bottom end modifications and can offer increased torque across the entire rpm range.

  • Type B is designed to be used with HKS 2.3l kit pistons and can extract the most from larger turbo kits like the HKS 3037S GT Special Turbo Kit.

  • Due to improved valve timing, both fuel economy and exhaust emissions can be reduced to provide economic environmental driving.

Notes for Fitments
  • Cylinder Head Modifications necessary for Cam clearance
  • Valve Timing Must be Measured
  • V-P (Valve - Piston Clearance) Must be Measured Before Use
  • Please ensure that Fuel, Ignition and Valve Timing settings are adjusted to suit new engine specications
Knotes for Usage
  • RPM Limit: 7600rpm
  • Variable Valve Timing Unit : Nickel Plated Duralmin Intake Pulley
  • When Oil is at lower temperatures, higher viscosity may prevent valve timing from reaching desired figure. Cam will not advance if water temperature is below 20°C
  • Please check timing belt for tension and wear every 10,000km and adjust/replace as necessary.
WARNING
The following parts are also necessary for installation of HKS V CAM System
  • Oil Line (From engine oil pressure outlet to cam cover) : Recommended, Flexible hose AN4 Female to AN4 Female (1408-RA006) / Tee fitting (14999-AK029) / adaptor fitting (14999-AK028)
  • Piston: HKS 2.3L Kit Pistons if using Type B
  • Valve Spings: HKS Valve Springs (22001-AM001) required on models before Evo VII
