For users who just need “more power and more torque”, HKS have designed a series of capacity upgrade kits to suit each engines characteristics. Increased displacement offers more torque at lower engine speeds and by using the highest quality materials, the durability required for high levels of tuning is achieved. Nickel coated pistons which have strong anti knocking properties combined with fully counterweighted crankshafts and high strength connecting rods (rods optional in some kits) combine to extract maximum performance from the turbocharger and increase torque.


4G 63 2.3 kit - Step One

1.Output / Strength (Internal test results)

2.Piston

Molybdenum coated piston skirts to allow
smoother bedding in when new and reduced
friction Piston diameter is 0.5mm oversize from
standard which is ideal for users who have concerns
about block strength with large bore pistons. This also allows
the block to be used again with 86mm pistons making it an
economical option also.

3.Crankshaft

HKS 2.3L Crank is used.

4.Connecting Rod

HKS 4G63 Connecting Rods are used (23004-AM001)

5.Other machining

(1) Cylinder Boring and honing is required due to 0.5mm oversized pistons
(2) No Block clearance modifications are necessary for larger stroke crank


Step Two
  • A 4G63 Capacity Upgrade Kit base don feedback from the “Carbon EVO” CT230R
  • HKS has chosen a 2.3L kit (2231cc) rather than the conventional 2.2l making this kit suitable for large turbo applications.
  • Suggested power limit: 500ps Torque: 60kgn. Anything above this can compromise block durability
  • Piston recesses are designed to be compatible with HKS V Cam system for further upgrading.
  • Pistons have Nickel plated tops, whilst the skirt is “oval coated” to improve anti knocking properties and reduce friction.
  • Compression ratio:e=9.0(1.2mm gasket)
2JZ-GTE 3.4 and Kit

Developed with drag racing in mind. HKS 2JZ-GTE 3.4l Kit makes approximately 1000ps power levels possible. Using Nickel plated pistons for anti knocking properties, H beam connecting rods and billet full counter weighted crankshaft for a “no compromise” capacity upgrade kit.

RB26DETT 2.8 and Kit

For RB users that require more low and mid rpm torque, the RB26DETT 2.8L kit is ideal. Step 1 and Step 2 are available to suit the specifications of each user.


Step One
  • Piston: Forged from high specification material
  • Connecting Rod: Forged from high specification material with H beam design for maximum strength and durability. WPC shot peening also contributes to strength as well as preventing metal fatigue. ?Stock rods can also be used
  • Crankshaft: Forged form high specification material and fully counterweighted for maximum balance at high rpm.
  • Ideal kit when overhauling from standard internal parts.
Step Two
  • Piston: Forged piston with Nickel plating for anti knocking properties and top piston ring stability. Piston Skirt is molybdenum coated for reduced friction, optimum clearance and smoother bedding in when new.
  • Connecting Rod: Forged from high specification material with H beam design for maximum strength and durability. WPC shot peening also contributes to strength as well as preventing metal fatigue ?Stock rods can also be used.
  • Crankshaft: Forged form high specification material and fully counterweighted for maximum balance at high rpm. Pin journals and centres have been hollowed to lighten rotating mass to improve throttle response.
  • Recommended for racing applications which require both power and response.

SR20DET 2.2 and Kit

As a popular tuning base, the SR20DET engine 2.2l kit was developed to provide not only low-mid rpm torque required for street and drift use, but also the high rpm power required for drag racing and other circuit use. Feedback and R&D from the HKS Hiper Silvia has resulted in a balanced kit which is high in strength yet lightweight.
