HKS, through it’s many years of motorsport activities, have felt the need for the development of a transmission that can be used to accurately transfer engine torque at even the highest levels such as drag racing. Developed from years of experience from Drag, Drift, Time Attack and circuit racing, design, development, testing and production now all take place “in house” to ensure the feedback from racing goes directly into making a better production item.
(Dog Engagement System For Strength And Reliability
A dog engagement system offers more power transfer capacity compared to synchro systems giving added strength and reliability and with correct driver operation, fast shifting is possible.
Helical Gears Used To Reduce Gear Noise Whilst Maintaining Strength.
High strength materials are used for the gears combine with a helical gear design which slants the teeth at an angle. This allows more gear area to mesh which improves strength and also significantly reduces noise that is associated with spur gear type transmissions.
High Strength And Durability from a Specially Designed Case.
High strength and durability can be achieved over kits which are installed into stock casing as each load baring part is redesigned to give maximum strength and efficiency.
Efficient and easy installation is possible as the whole unit is assembled designed with minimal modification to the body or chassis necessary for fitment.
H Pattern Shift
H pattern shifting is popular due to the strong natural feeling of each gear change. The Shift pattern has been designed to allow the most used gears on the circuit (2nd and 3rd) to have a simple forwards/backward motion to shift between them (different on some models) Each shift pattern is designed to suit the characteristics of the each vehicle.
Sequential Shift
Using a barrel cam which converts the I shift pattern to that of an H pattern has allowed HKS to create a sequential transmission based on a reliable manual transmission base. Quick and accurate gear changes are now possible with particular attention paid to the weight and stroke of each gear change to give a genuine race car feel to your car.
Motor Sport Gear
HKS, through it’s many years of motorsport activities, have felt the need for the development of a transmission that can be used to accurately transfer engine torque at even the highest levels such as drag racing. Developed from years of experience from Drag, Drift, Time Attack and circuit racing, design, development, testing and production now all take place “in house” to ensure the feedback from racing goes directly into making a better production item. HKS has developed a competition transmission which is approved for use by JAF and FIA. These transmissions have been used in Rally competitions globally and also developed and tested on the HKS CT230R Time Attack Car.
FEATURES
A bolt on transmission for Lancer Evolution IV~IX with stock 5 speed transmission.
Homologated for Group N in FIA and JAF competition(EVO V-IX (5 speed models))
Newly designed shift rod reduces shift stroke to approximately 70% of standard. Newly designed dog rings also allow for precise and accurate shifting with a positive feeling which feedback to the driver.
Weight reduction in many areas whilst maintaining strength in critical areas makes for a transmission which is both strong and leightweight
All parts are proudly made in Japan for high accuracy and reliability
Spur gears are used to relieve stress on the rotational axis and stock case is used for a wide range of uses in various motorsport categories.
